What could slow down my connection?
The subject is really broad so here is a small problem I have.
When I browse / download things using Mozilla, my internet is pretty fast and my D/L speed is always at its peak. Now that is a HTTP type connection.
When I try to connect to other things such as IRC, or GAIM for example, the connection takes forever.
You might say that the IRC server or the AIM server is just slow, and I thought that too for awhile but it couldn't be..
When I had kernel 2.4.26 on default Slackware 10 install, things weren't that way.
After recompiling to 2.6.8.1 with alot of the options in the IPTABLES section selected as modules, now the slowness started happening. Could it be one of those modules that are loaded which is slowing down my connection to other protocols that isnt HTTP?
I have no rules in my iptables yet or whatever, so I know it couldnt be that.
What is the cause of this? Do you know? Maybe? Thanks for any input you can give me.
