What's the differences between Netperf and Iperf?

Both Netperf and Iperf are the benchmarks that are able to measure the maximum achieveable network throughput between two machines. But what are their difference when both of them are used to measure the TCP throughput?

From a quick scan of the homepage netperf looks like they both do basically the same job. It looks like netperf has more features and maybe better stats output but I'd suggest that iperf is more ubiquitous and is widely accepted as a de-facto standard when measuring tcp throughput.

Actually there are several differences:

1. IPERF is a well-written modern CLI tool, very simple to use. NETPERF looks like a museum exponate. The simplest tutorial for NETPERF I've found on the web is as easy as learning the Klingon's Kumburan dialect.

2. NETPERF reported invalid bandwidth on some machines. And those machines very just laptops connected over a simple switch.

3. NETSERVER (part of NETPERF) often reports useless machine address, so it would be better to just write nothing than misleading info.

In short, use IPERF.
