weird vlan error
Hi - trying to add an additional vlan to an interface that already has several vlans configured and getting a strange error / result. Its a Centos 5.2 server. Never had a problem doing this before but I'm getting some bizzare results:
So trying to add eth1.2131:
cat ifcfg-eth1.2131
# Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM5708 Gigabit Ethernet
DEVICE=eth1.2131
BOOTPROTO=static
IPADDR=10.15.15.251
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
ONBOOT=yes
TYPE=Ethernet
VLAN=yes
If I do a network restart ALL other vlans come up but this one errors with:
Bringing up interface eth1.2131: Device eth1.2131 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.
[FAILED]
If I look in /proc/net/vlan/config the entry for vlan 2131 is wrong:
VLAN Dev name | VLAN ID
Name-Type: VLAN_NAME_TYPE_RAW_PLUS_VID_NO_PAD
eth1.900 | 2131 | eth1
Vlan 900 was previously configured on this server but I've since disabled this with "ONBOOT=no" and rebooted the server, so no idea why it's still picking this up?
Trying to add the vlan manually also fails:
vconfig add eth1 2131
ERROR: trying to add VLAN #2131 to IF -:eth1:- error: Invalid argument
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks - J.
