Weird Internet Connection Problem!

I have linux set up on a home network, where XP static routes to the Linux box. I can access the internet through browsers with the linux box, but can only telnet or ssh out once in a while. Or if i try to connect to yahoo or AIM, it takes several timed out sessions before finally connecting. I have a wireless router setup with a hub on my XP machine.

What happens is, sometimes it will say Connecting to 1.0.0.0 and sometimes it lets me through. This happens with telnet, X-chat (connecting to irc.funcom.com (1.0.0.0) port 6667.., yahoo(gaim). What the heck is it doing? Is it the router or something with LInux? I set my firewall to off and it still gives me this problem.

I'm using Redhat 8.0 and the router is a Qwest Wireless, though linux is attached through ethernet card.
