Question webmail create new account on cyrus imap

i want to install horde/imp webmail on my university, but i have to create all accounts in cyrus imap for every student , that is too much.
my question is: is there a way to permit to create theirs account to every student with php or other. the idea is to do something like hotmail, where you login to view your emails, but if you dont have an account on it, you can create one.
thanks.
