Webdav issue

Hi everybody.

For my studies I have to login to the college server in order to create all kinds of personal stuff. The manual to the server says I have to use a Windows program called "Webdrive".

Ofcourse, nobody mentions "linux" anywhere, except me.

A quick Google came up with the program Webdav. Installed just fine and I installed the libneon client on the go. When I try to log on, nothing happens; the program returns a manual for it's usage.

I came up with an article from the Clemson Linux Initiative, stating that I can mount these remote directories simply using Konqueror.

Tried that and Konqueror asks me for a login/password. After some time of trying to load it all Konqueror tels me "couldn't connect to host".

Asking for a login/pwd means someone's on the other end of the line, yes? Or....

I have been a very happy slacker for years now, but I never really got into networking.

Some help would be greatly appreciated; for I refuse to use the other option

Thanks!

Yours, Pieter.

That's where I got the code from; didn't find anything useful there.

But thanks for your quick response.

Pieter.

Hi there,
Are you accessing a central repository in your college server? Is it running versioning systems such as CVS or Subversion? Asking for a username and password means you have an account there. Problems with logging into the account can be with the authentication with the server. Try to contact your admin there. WebDav is a HTTP protocol sute which is aimed to convert the web into a read/write medium, which is not the case right now. WebDav enbles you to write into the file repository, only if that option is specified in the server. Using WebDav to access repositories is not a nice option since support for it is in testing stages, the other option you can use is the svnclient from Subversion or using TortoiseSVn for windows. Feel free to contact if problem persists. Your thread is not giving the exact details, so please be more spscific next time.
vimal..
