Web browser handles different protocol

Hi,
Is there a way to make a web browser (FireFox, for example) to execute a command line upon typing the URL in the box ?

For example, the program call JMStudio can handle rtp:// stream. Whenever someone type rtp:// ..... in the web browser, i'd like it to launch the JMStudio with the appropriate argument.

So how could i configure the web browser (Firefox) to handle this.

Many thanks

You just have to build a plugin/extension for firefox to handle rtp protocol :p
