Waiting for www.nohrsc.nws.gov...
I have a small network with a couple computers on it. I'm having trouble with one computer connecting to one website. It's a Dell laptop running Fedora 8.
When I try to go to http://www.nohrsc.nws.gov/interactiv...pe=0&js=1&uc=0 , it displays "Waiting for www.nohrsc.nws.gov..." in the status bar. It never displays the page. It happens in Firefox and Konqueror. It happens when connected to the internet through a wire or wireless. It happens when I try to wget the image the page provides. It happens when I use urllib in Python. It even happens when I run Xubuntu in Virtual Box. Now, if I connect across the network to the Windows 2000 computer, it will connect to the server and download the data without even blinking. Any suggestions on what the problem might be? |
Does it work if you change your user agent headers to look like Internet Explorer on Windows XP?

[EDIT] Hmmm... I got an error just replying "Nope." """The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.""" |
Well, FWIW, I can't even get to the root directory of that address: http://www.nohrsc.nws.gov/ - I get pretty much the same "Waiting..." behavior. Could it be some misconfiguration on the server? Governments aren't exactly known for being super competent in these matters.

I guess it could be. I can get to it from my Linux router at work, though.
I run a Python script to collect the noon image of snow depth, process the colors and add a label with ImageMagick. I use it in our GIS. |
