vsftpd - only root can login!

Greetings. I've just installed vsftpd on Slackware 10 and I'm running it in standalone mode (by setting listen=YES in /etc/vsftpd.conf). I have no problems establishing a connection to the server, but when I try to login using any of the local users other than root, I get "login failed." I have set local_enable=YES in vsftpd.conf and restarted the server, but still had no luck.

Thanks.

Did you forget how to allow users other than root login, and perhaps couldn't find it in the docs?

Yes, that's exactly the problem. I had it working on my former Gentoo server with three users, but when I reinstalled here, I coudn't get it working the same way. I couldn't find it anywhere in "vsftpd.conf"

It turns out that the problem was caused by no shells being listed for the users in /etc/passwd. The problem was resolved by adding them.
