im super confused. i installed vsftpd the other day, and everything seems to be going according to plan. the only thing is, i cant connect from the internet, only local.. so far i have all the other settings i want in place, the only thing is. i need other users to be able to connect to me. im pretty sure i dont have a firewall running (iptables).

when i try to connect from my public address i get a "connection refused" error.

here take a look-see at my vsftpd.conf file:

i dont have any amazing settings here, pretty much stock. so im really stumped. (i am a noob). do you think pam could be the issue, because for some reason, im not able to 'make'
vsftpd with it.

anyway, any input here would be greatly appreciated, im sure its something foolish that im just missing.

check ur router and make sure the the ip address is forward not internal and how r u trying to connect?

ah, my apologies, i forgot to mention about the router...
i opened up the ports on my router already. and im trying to connect from gftp using my public ip address.

any ideas??

try typing this on the Linux box...

service iptables stop
or /etc/init.d/iptables stop

if you can then connect the problem is your local firewall. you can search for iptables examples on the forum...
