VSFTPD banner display

Hi there,

Is there a way to have vsftpd banner messages displayed more prominently?

I would like my banner to inform people that my FTP site is not meant for long-term storage: a pretty important message.

I've tested this in two FTP clients: FileZilla and IE. In FileZilla the banner is displayed but is quickly scrolled off the screen by other messages. IE doesn't display the banner message at all.

Ideally I would like some sort of pop-up or similar event that the client has no choice but to take note of.

I imagine that this is an issue that the server can't solve, but thought perhaps someone knows for sure.

Thanks!

You are quite right, it isn't a server issue. The welcome banner is sent back to the clients and they decide how to display it.

Perhaps you could find some way to make them agree to your terms on a web page and only create/enable their account once they do so.

Hi David,

Thanks very much for your quick reply.

And my apologies for my slow thank you; I've been away for a while.
