vsftpd anonymous login

I just installed vsftpd in an old RH9 box. I "thought" I had it configured to allow anonymous login -- I have /etc/vsftpd.conf with a line
anonymous_enable=YES

When I try to log in from another machine in my lan (using psftp) it prompts for a username and password. I can log in using a username and password for a valid account on the server machine with no problems, but I can't seem to login as "anonymous" or "ftp". (it asks for anonymous's password or ftp's password, and then, whether I just hit "enter", or give an email address, it responds with Access denied.

What am I doing wrong?

Add this to your vsftpd.conf file:

no_anon_password=YES

Refer to http://vsftpd.beasts.org/vsftpd_conf.html.

Yeah. this line had been added.

I encoutered this issue on Embedded Linux.
I found that the root cause of this issue is due to busybox lack of ftp.
