So I log in as a user, fred, which has me starting in the home dir, /home/fred
the problem is, i can download anthing but cannot upload anything. /home/fred is chmod 777 right now, and still I cannot. Also, I noticed it enters passive mode. IS that the problem? is that on by default?
I am experiencing the same problem with Cox cablemodem, DLink router, VSFTP on Fedora Core 2 when connecting from outside the local network using any Windows machine. If I connect from within the network then it works perfectly both uploading and downloading. When outside the network I can connect and download using anonymous FTP or SSH but I cannot upload. Both services give me the same response:
STATUS:> PWD skipped. Current folder: "/dropoff".
COMMAND:> PASV
227 Entering Passive Mode (68,xx,251,xx,248,57)
COMMAND:> STOR 06-01-04-Dialup Instructions v5iams.rtf
STATUS:> Connecting FTP data socket 68.227.251.52:63545...
150 Ok to send data.
ERROR:> Timeout (60000 ms) occurred on sending data to the server.
426 Failure reading network stream.
ERROR:> Connection closed; transfer aborted.
I get the same thing. Firstly, it was only happening for only 1 client (out of about 50), as they attempted to upload files to our server, but now it's happening with a second client.
