Exclamation VNCServer Resolution Question - Running a 1280x1024 vnc session on a 1024x768 system

I am running Mandrake 10 as a home network server. I have VNC setup correctly but I would like to run it in a higher resolution. My linux box can only go to 1024 x 768 and I would like to run my vnc service at 1280 x 1024(I really need the desktop area for all my work). I have tried many things including messing with the XF86Config-4 file with no luck. I run enlighenment on the VNC desktop and just have not been able to come up with a solution. Any and all help would be appreaciated.

have you tried setting the -geometry option when running vncserver? (man vncserver)

Sure have. I have a line in the /etc/sysconfig/vncservers file

VNCSERVERARGS[1]="-geometry 1280x1024"

have had no luck with that. I have read just about everything FAQ and Manual I could find.

try passing it in directly to the vncserver command.

in a console, entered:

vncserver :2 -geometry 1280x1024

which did give me the 1280x1024 resolution that I wanted. I think that the script /etc/rc.d/init.d/vncserver needs to be fixed to allow for the:

VNCSERVERARGS[1]="-geometry 1280x1024"

argument to be passed to the command. I am not that well versed in scripting in bash(I think it is a bash script cuz of the !/bin/bash on the first line.) I think the offending line lookss like:

"su${display##*:} -c \"cd ~${display##*:} && [ -f .vnc/passwd ] && vncserver :${display%%:*}\""

I think that after the last {display%%:*} somewhere the VNCSERVERARGS should be plugged in to make it a truly configurable setup. How would that be done.
