VNC server configuration on Redhat

VNC server Configuration and troubleshooting
o Open /etc/sysconfig/vncserver and add the username
" Vi /etc/sysconfig/vncserver
VNCSERVERS="1: root 2:sun"
VNCSERVERARGS[1] ="-geometry 1024x768"

" Then start the vncserver service
service vncserver start

" Now, login as root and set the password for root.

" Then go to /root/.vnc and uncomment the 2-lines in xstartup
exec /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc

" Now restart the vncserver
service vncserver restart

" To connect to a remote system with firewall, port 5901 and 5902needs to be open.
vi /etc/sysconfig/iptables
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 5901 -j ACCEPT
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 5902 -j ACCEPT

" If you are getting error 10065, then stop "iptables" service & try again
service iptables stop
