VNC error

I'm trying to connect to a RH server from a windows box. I can use putty and connect to the RH server. But when I use VNC to connect I get an error message that says:
"Failed to connect to Server".

Any ideas what might be wrong?

I fixed the error above by adding :1 to the ip for vncclient connecting to the RH box.
But all i get is a terminal window. How do I get the RH gui desktop?

Yes, I have the vncserver service running. I can connect okay, but I get a blank X window with one terminal session.
When I use vnc to a windows box I see the standard desktop. That is what I'm expecting on the Red Hat box but I don't see it. I want to be able to run a web browser from the vnc window but don't know how.

Dot

Here is the link to how I set mine up. Mine works fine (including remote browsing). There is a lot of good info here but it is spread out.

Piece of cake!

Run vncserver:display on host computer
example:
vncserver :1
set up vnc password for users

vncpasswd
*type password

edit the user's vnc config in their home directory

/home/username/.vnc/somevnconfigfilewhichIfogetthename
Remove comment on first 2 lines (some distros do this, like Ubuntu)

Otherwise, I forget, but comment out the exec tw&m or whatever. Then change to something like

exec gdm
(google this up, or wait for someone else to let you know)
