VMware: XP Host; Ubuntu Guest; Bridge Networking. VMnet0 problem

I have XP Home host, and trying to have bridge connection with Ubuntu 7.10 as guest.

I am getting the vmnet0 problem.

Quote:

The network bridge on device VMnet0 is not running.... Virtual device Ethernet0 will start disconnected.
I have tried to install other operating systems in VMware - both Linux and Windows - and still getting the VMnet0 error. I have used an XP Pro host, that is on my wireless network, and it installs VMware with bridged fine.

Another thing I've noticed [and not sure if it matters]: on the "Automatic Bridging" tab in VMware Workstation, underneath "Automatic Bridging", where the check box to select it to automatically choose a network adapter.. is blanked out.

(This may be true, I'm not sure, but I've read somewhere via a Google search that you can't do this as XP Home host, you must use XP Pro(?))

Thanks
