VMware Player and Fedora 15 on a Windows 7 host

Has any one experienced in an existing network enviornment such as a school lab difficulty in networking two virtual fedora 15 linux machines one acting as a server the other as a client; both sitting on seperate hosts with VMware player version 4? If so, were you successful and if so, how??

A server and a client for what? What are you trying to serve with the server (NFS, etc.), and what issues/errors are you running into?

Hello to LQ.

Do I have to have exactly that problem to reply? :)

Let me go over some basics. A VM is a real computer basically for this issue. The unique part is the way a VM can or could be attached to the host.

Three basic ways exist. Bridged, nat and local. See VMware's documentation for exactly that choices you have and what are the results of your choice. I think this is current. http://www.vmware.com/pdf/VMwarePlayerManual10.pdf

The other issue here is Linux. Many linux installs have to be configured to allow some type of traffic.

We need to know how you set up the networking in the VM and then we may need to know more about your network in the client and what you need to access.
