i have vmware installed,,so i am giving a different ip on my vmware, and gateway,, but it is not pinging my gateway,,net on windows is working fine ,, can anyone suggest me what can be the problem with my vmware network!!!

Which vmware? Which distro? When you compile vmware, it asks you if you want networking enabled and if you want to share your host's network connection, then it handles the details.
If you are having a problem more than likely there is a problem with your samba installation but lacking a lot more details from you no one will be able to help.
