Post VLAN query

Hi All,

What should be the behavior when tagged vlan packet comes on the untagged port of the corresponding VLAN. The packet should be dropped or it should be allowed?

For example I have switch having 2 ports configured in hybrid mode with untagged member of VLAN 1. Now if untag packet arrives at any port then it will switch successfully from other port but suppose if tagged packet of VLAN 1 arrives at any port then, will it be dropped at that port or switched from other port?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,
Shailendra

if the interface is not configured to understanding 802.1q encoding, then it should just dump the packet as it will have headers it's not expecting and won't make sense.
