Vlan not sepparate

Hmm.. i hope some one is able to help me out here..
i got 1 switch for the normal network things.. (3com baseline 2250)

now, i have 2 utp cables, across the building to an other location..
both are plugged in the baseline switch..

at the other end, i hace a x-net sh 9016a switch..
the switch is configured to have a VLAN..

port 1-8 are vlan-11 port 9-16 are v-lan 22

guess what, it ain't working... as soon as i plug in another link with the
base line, ping's are getting crazy (time outs, > 5000 ms ect ect)

but what else can i set to make it work...

(i also tryed to trunk the lines... but that was making it even worse)

i have an old setup, where it works, but that is with several xnet switches (before we bought the 3com baseline switch)

so the question, does annyone have some more input on the question,
and second, to vlan/trunk your switch, does it have to be setup on 1 switchs, or both .. ??

(can i setup vlan on the xnet, and leave the 3com as it is ??)
