VLAN


Hello,

I want to test VLAN on my Embedded Linux Board.I have enabled the driver 802.1q module.

This is the configuration i have done on board

ip link add link eth0 name eth0.100 type vlan id 100
ip addr add 192.168.82.111/24 brd 192.168.82.255 dev eth0.100
ip link set dev eth0.100 up


I am new to this.I have to test the the working of VLAN.What-else Setup is needed to test.

Can any one help me to make the setup.

I think your setup is enough to test vlan.

After your setup, you have vlan device, and you can test if the device works fine.
for example:
ping another machine
run some protocol on the device:ssh, ftp, tcp etc.
check if the promisc works fine, if it can change mac
