virtual networking
Hey!
is it possible to virtually network like..having few virtual machines up and trying to set up few systems like lamp, mail/web etc? firewalls and such..just to learn something? |
As far as I know, should be no problem. Lot of people network their VM to their physical machine for file/print sharing, using the physical machine as a firewall or vice versa.... adding more VMs shouldn't change that.

So i was wondering if thats possible and if thats a good idea to do, instead of having several physical machines. |
Ok. Now I got it ;-).
I don't see any problems other than memory and CPU constraints. As long as either you have low CPU utilization of all your VMs or you have a powerfull CPU and enough memory this will work. Memory requirements will be lower if you use the same OS on all VMs (at least for VMWARE) because of shared common code/memory. |
