Virtual Interface Limit

I ws wondering if anyone new if there was a limit to the number of virtual interfaces that could actually be created on an ethernet adapter? For instance, could I create eth1:1 through eth1:300? I basically have a situation where I would like to have about 300 /29 networks all on the same phisical lan. If I were able to create a virtual interface in each network, I could control or limit routing between the individual networks. 99% of the typical traffic would be masqueraded from the networks out to the internet via eth0 in the same box. It all seems resonable to me, I'm just not sure if I can create that many virtual hosts.

Thanks anyone,
Mark
