Virtual Hosts with Dynamic IP and

Hi all,

I trying to setup Virtual Hosting with FC 1. I have a DSL connection that has a dynamic IP. I have setup IP based Virtual Hosting in Apache 2.x.x

I have setup a virtual host on port 8080 and it works fine with an IP address. For example I can go to xx.myip.xx:8080 and the virtual host comes up. However I want to be able to associate a hostname with this virtual ip host. The problem is that my DNS is handled by So how would I map my DNS to my virtual IP host? Does anyone else have a setup similiar to this? Can I setup the virtual host DNS configuration on my box and still have handle my main domain?

Or is it even feasible to run my own DNS server and get rid of - even though my IP is dynamic?

all of that sounds greek to me but I think I know what you are asking about. I host 4 different websites on my red hat machine. Do you have more than 1 site you want to host?

Anyhow, first off you need to edit httpd.conf and edit section 2 'Main Configuration'. You would need to edit the webmaster email address, along with giving the hostname.. this will be and setting the listening port to 8080. It seems like you have done this already.

If you need to add a virtual host then post back here if you're not sure how to do this.

Re-phrase what you want.
