Via Velocity Network card

Hello, this is the first time I have attempted to use Debian, and unfortunatly, the netinst does not seem to support my network card. I am using the current AMD64 unofficial release.

My NIC is a VIA Networking Velocity-Family Giga-bit ethernet adapter, and is onboard my K8t939-Pro Soltek motherboard. Lspci yields a VIA technologies: unknown device error, and I don't really know enough to troubleshoot it.

I went to VIA's site and downloaded the driver for my card, and amazingly managed to get the driver onto my Debian partition and uncompressed. However... it appears the netinst does not include ANY sort of compiler for the makefile.

If somebody could tell me what to do now, or just point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful.
