Unhappy via-rhine problem? (Redhat 9)

Hi all,

This problem actually screw me up about 2 weeks and can't solve it.

I have a ASUS motherboard (forgot model no) with a via-rhine NIC.
I installed redhat 9 on it 2 weeks ago and setup vsftpd.

The vsftpd can work but operate in a strange (asymmetric transfer rate) behaviour.

On every fresh boot up, the upload/download speed is excellent in a 100 Mbps LAN, can up to 3XXX KB/s for both upload / download.

However after certain uptimes, I found asymmetric transfer speed on the vsftpd (actually not only vsftpd, same as SCP). Upload to server remains 3XXX KB/s, but download from server can only achieve 40 KB/s.

After I reboot or ifdown / ifup, it "refresh" back to its excellent performance for both download / upload.......

Any idea on it?
Thank you very much.

Regards,
Rayle
