Very Strange Problem

I have some IBM NetVista 2800 Thin Clients, and a Red Hat 7.2 box. The problem is any IBM NetVista box can't ping Red hat box and Red Hat box can't ping NetVista either, but a Windows mahcine can ping any of them!

I used to use 3c905b TX NIC on the linux box, some body suggested to replace it. I replaced the 3c905B TX with a Intel NIC, but it didn't solve the problem.

We have a firewall box which is also running Linux on it, it has the same problem with IBM NetVista box.

I guess that IBM NetVista and Linux don't like eath other because Linux has some security feature on by default, but I am not sure. Does anybody have any ideas on this?

Thanks in advance

Jing

Im not real sure... though you could run ethereal, which is a packet sniffer.. and then try to see whats going on...

have u checked the gateway's set for the nic's on these machines?

r there any firewall issues which are blocking ICMP (ping) replies on either of these machines? (check the ruleset)

After running tcpdump, I found that NetVista doesn't reply to arp and icmp. But I have not figured out how Windows machine gets reply....
