Very simple question about Samba

This might be simple but a question that doesn't get answered either in my Suse Admin. or Linux Bible book

I know that Samba is needed to enable networking between a Windows and a Linux PC, but will Samba let me network with a third PC that also runs Linux ?

About Samba

I am not sure I understand your question? You are now using Samba to provide access to shared resources on a network that consists of a windows box and a linux box and want to add another linux box to the network?

Quote from Samba's website:
" Samba is an Open Source/Free Software suite that provides seamless file and print services to SMB/CIFS clients."

You could set up another linux computer with Samba, KDE or GNOME and use lisa or LinNeighborhood to access the shares via smb however, there are more efficient ways to share resources between open source computers like NFS which would allow you to mount the hard drive partitions across the network.

OK,

i have a similar problem. I have a FreeBSD fileserver and 6 workstations connecting. 4 windows and 2 linux. I need to keep Samba running on my server for the odd windoze machine, is running both going to be a problem? is there a good FAP somewhere?

Correct

First
I am a Newbie with a little bit of networking expirience at work using windows.
The aim is to have a home Server for dial up internet, mail and file Server that will service both Windows PC's and Linux PC's.

So far I have managed to have a firewall running for the Internet and can now ping 2 Linux PC's over the internal Network.

The question is:
Do I have to have both Samba Server/Client and NFS Server/Client configured or will Samba look after Linux to Linux PC's as well ?
