Using VNC

Hi,

Sorry if these are stupid questions - but it's the first time I've used VNC.

I've got a Fedora Core 5 box set up in my garage (well, why not?) and since the weather's now turning chilly, I've set up vnc to play with it from inside the house.

It seems to work OK and since speed isn't really an issue (it's on the lan, so runs pretty quick) I've got it set up with the (kde) desktop. However, I've a couple of questions ...

Is it possible to make the background actually sit in the background? As it stands, if I close an application window it sneaks behind the background and I eventually have to minimise the background to recover it. If I then reopen the desktop it "sits on top" of everything else.

Secondly, I can't resize any of the application windows from the viewer (which is running on WXP)

... maybe I'm missing something obvious?

Many hyperthanks for any replies ...

What VNC app are you using?

I use tightVNC, and I'm not sure if I understand your problem correctly but I seem not to have the trouble you refer to.

Hmm - but then I also use it the other way around (Linux VNCing to a Windows desktop PC).

But again, I find tightVNC to be very well suited to my needs, if you are not using it already try it out. It might solve some of your issues.
