using USB and ethernet on modem at once

im trying to decrease the amount of enegry consumed by my room's electronics and would like to take out heat producers. my room is 92 degrees F. yes it is that hot. to begin i would like to take out my router, runs hot. my adsl modem has USB and ethernet ports on it. i have a westell 2100. do you think it would be possible to get ubuntu to use a usb internet and have my modem run both connections at once?

If I get what your asking, you have 2 systems, you want to dump the router and have the DSL modem handle the routing? Connecting one computer with the USB and the other With 10BaseT. I would say no, it won't work.

They do have modems with built in routers, however, you would have to replace the one you have. Get a Fan!
