VNC usually runs on port 5800+ and 5900+. The 5800+ ports are the java applet ports where your webbrowser will download the class files it needs to run a vnc java client and it will then connect to 5900+ port. The + indicates it could be 5801, 5802, etc. same with 5900+.
VNCserver will run on 5900 by default so trying to go to port 111 will not work. Try connecting to the ip:0 (0 indicates the 590(0) port) if you did ip:1 it would try to connect to 5901. What you should see is a password prompt. If the box goes away and that's it, it's probably connecting to something, but waiting to get a reply and it's just not getting one. It should timeout after a while. Try your webbrowser on port 5800. http://ip-of-vncserver:5800/ and see what happens. |
