using ssh through a proxy

Hi all,
i am using a connection that connects to internet through proxy, now i have a linux server in my uni that i want to access. when i try to coonect through ssh using ssh client it doesnt allow me to connect but still pings it. i think that my network admin has blocked port for ssh. is there any way through i can connect to it . plz dont ask me to request sys admin to open that port, i know he wont..

Your sysadmin has mental problems.

Anyways,
If you have some port that is not blocked, you can move ssh server there and use it.
If proxy access is the only access, something like corkscrew can be a solution for you.
Or if there is a w machine in the client end, you could use putty instead of corkscrew as is done in an example.

I once faced the same problem

The reason why you cannot connect to the server is that there is a firewall running on that server.

To successfully login to that server you need to disable that firewall...which i suppose you cant..cz i think you dont have access to the server.

However the conclusive solution is "Disable the firewall on the server"
