using https & http proxys ala multiproxy

Hi

i would like to use proxys to surf through the net. However i found a lot of proxylist with google. But the problem is that a lot proxy doesn't seem to be online for a long time.
So searching for new proxys is requiered.
I am wondering if there isn't a program out that acts as a local proxy and trys to connect to proxys (which are added in a list) so searching and testing for new proxys is automated.

Like the windows tool multiproxy.

Any ideas, recommendations?

As far as i recall there is a tool call YAPH (yet another proxy hunter) which takes a list of porxys you gave is and checks them for a load of things. It also has the ability to hunt for new proxys if you have nmap installed
