using dual gateways on my linux box ..

hey all,

Im a newbie to linux and got a question for you ..

I needed a firewall solution so I have set up a box with Mandrake 10. All is great and I even have squid working! (next is samba!)

Now that im about to start pointing my users to my new proxy server I want to set up the box to use both gateways I have. I have it pointing to one but how can I make it poing to two ???

thx in advance!

Even though i am not really clear about what exactly you want to do but you cant make a machine use 2 default gateways. It sounds like you want to do something like this.
If you need to switch between the gateways quickly without changing the users-boxes configuration then you should consider setting up a DNS-server and use a name like "gate" for the default gateway to use. And then change its address on the DNS if you need to switch between the gateways.

on wincrap pcs or even wincrap servers you have the option to set up your network connection for a primary gateway and a secondary gateway -- it will use the first avail -- I need to set up the proxy server to allow me to do the same ....

The prob is that I have 2 t1's -- one on one gateway --- one on the other -- and I want to be able combine the bandwidth -- wincrap allows you to do this ...

If i see this right the proxy is inside your network and needs to use the same gateways like the clients. And you now want to use both gateways from that proxy.
It should be possible. But i am not sure how you could do it except using a bash-script ping and a timeout to construct something like a slow failover. But that would still not do what you really want (i think). Which would be load balancing and is a bit more complicated to setup.
