using domain names on cable connections

Hi,

I've started reading a howto on setting up my linux box so that I can use my domain name and have a question.

I may be mis-understanding it but it was saying that my linux box will need an external and internal IP address. This is fine if my linu8x was connected directly to the cable modem but it isn't. The external IP address is on my AirStation/router so how would I get it on my linux box?

Cheers
Tez
