Question using BiPAC 7000 usb ADSL modem

Hi,

The internet was running fine on my machine with eth0 interface but the router got screwed up after the rains & lightening few days back. The ISP replaced it with Billion BiPAC 7000 usb ADSL modem.

Harddrake lists this piece in unknown catagory & driver is none. I'm connectionless

Has anybody configured this on linux?

Machine is P3-2GHz with Mandriva-2005 limited edition installed

Thanks

-BG

Use 'lsusb' (must be root) to get the VendorID:ProductID - you can use those numbers to help you find out if there are any available drivers.

Question Re: using BiPAC 7000 usb ADSL modem

Hi,

I used lsusb & it shows the modem as Conexant with vendorroduct as 0572:cb06

1) I then downloaded cxacru-fw.c from http://accessrunner.cvs.sourceforge....srunner/utils/
(the combination 0572:cb06 appears in supported modems list)

2) built the source code with gcc -o cxacru cxacru-fw.c

3) then picked CnxEtU.sys from Win-XP driver folder (modem works on Win-XP)
4) executed command -- cxacru CnxEtU.sys cxacru-fw.bin

but to my dismay, it throws error:

can't find AccessRunner firmware in 'CnxEtU.sys'

what could be the problem?

Thanks

After some nagging, ISP has replaced USB modem with ethernet & I am back online. But couldn't figure out the exact problem!

Thanks
