Using a Router with RH8.0

Hi peeps,
I'm not totally stupid, but I have never really used Linux before. The idea appealed to me so I just built another box to do it. I'm using RH 8.0, and I am trying to connect to the internet via my Belkin router (to my NTL 600Kbps line). My Windows 2000 Laptop is doing it fine, but I have absolutely no idea how to do it with Linux. Can anyone help?
Cheers!

Does the router assign ip info via dhcp, if so, then you will have to set up your NIC (eth0) to aquire its info via dhcp.

RedHat has some tools to help you do this....

netconfig is one, although there are others.

You can also do it via the command line with /sbin/ifconfig
