Unhappy Using a Linux server to keep a user from accessing a Share in a windows workstation

Hi,

I am planning to convert my existing Windows XP/2K based P2P network into a Client Server network by implementing a Linux based Domain.

So this is my problem.

Lets say there is a windows XP workstation named "A" which has shared folder called "B" in it. And it is connected to a Linux based domain using SAMBA tool. There are two users called "Mr. C" using a windows workstation named "WS1" and "Mr. D" using a workstation called "WS2". Assuming they are also connected to the Linux Domain I want to configure my Linux server so that it will allow "Mr. C" to access the Shared folder called "B" in the workstation "A" but it will block "Mr. D" from accessing this shared folder. Can anyone tell me how to do this. I think Domain authentication is the technical word for this.

Thanx!!!

Once you join a Windows system to a Samba or MS domain then that Windows system may use accounts and groups from the domain in it's permission lists (ACLs) for file and printer sharing, just as if those accounts and groups were part of the Windows system itself. Note that you may need to untick "simple file sharing" on the Windows system in order to get a "Permissions" tab to appear on folder properties windows etc.

The Samba Web site provides extensive documentation on how to set up domains, and how they work.
