Using 2 computers with 1 Ip adress
Soon i will be in teh situation where i need to use 2 computers (a linux boax and a windowz box) on one assigned IP adress (conecting via cat 5)
is tehere some linux software that can run as a NAT router to work both machines and if so can sombody direct me to a web site where i can get morte info.... or is it possable to buy a hardware router (like you would use for DSL) that i can go cat5 to cat5 with so i can use my 2 machines on 1 IP and only appearing as 1 IP to the network on teh otehr side? |
Any Cable/DSL router (without built in modem) will do.
Simply connect your incoming Cat5 to the WAN side of the router and the computers to the LAN side. |
good idea!
i will keep an eye out for a cheap one... i presume that they will work at 100Mb/s |
Most all routers/hubs/switches work at 10/100, so yes.
