Question Using 'r' commands as root users

I need to run certain 'r' commands on my linux box as a root user. I know its a major security issue but all the machines are on a private network with no connection to the outside world. I appreciate that its not going to be as easy as adding:

machinename root

into my hosts.equiv file, on some previous post I saw something about configuring rshd service with -h although I am not sure about this. Can anyone help, I know its possible to switched of on Red Hat distro!!!!!
