User migration from Samba to NIS
 

I have a number of users who are authenticating against a Windows NT machine via Samba. I want to create NIS users and transfer the Samba users' passwords to these new user accounts. (I can't simply create NIS users with identical usernames, because the Samba usernames begin with numbers).

Has anyone out there tried Samba to NIS migration? All advice appreciated...

in have not tried this but i would recomend that u should try using LDAP for authentication so that this becomes a central authentication system and later on u can have same users for mailing,net browsing etc etc
