Question Use eth1 for port 8081

Hi all

I have a server box with two nics and I want to have all outbound packets on port 8081 go through eth1 and all the other through eth0.

Using ping, I can pass a device option to select the network device to be used, but when trying to make a connection with wget or so, there is no way to select the nic, so if I can route all outbound traffic for port 8081 through eth1, all will be ok for me.

Thanks

you could maybe use iptables to forward port 8081 requests using that nic,

but what is the reason you are trying to do this, be a little more specific on what your trying to accomplish, might be a better solution.

I'd like to use iptables for this but don't know how to do that.

What I'm ultimately am trying to accomplish is this:

Use eth1 to detect external IP address, and use eth0 to update a file on a server.

nope not at all, I want to use eth1 for one specific purpose, which is connecting to a host on port 8081.

and eth0 must handle all other traffic.
