usb connection


i recently installed redhat on my desktop and from my prior experience i set up linx with a ethernet connection on my laptop but my desktop doesnt have a ethernet connection so i put the usb wire that came with my cable modem in the desktop but i dunno how to set that up is id aDSL or a ethernet connection and what else would i need to know to set it up

You have a usb cable and you used it to connected your desktop to your laptop ?
I hope your usb port is still working

allow me to explain myself again my cable modem comes with a ethernet connection and a usb connection. my desktop doesnt have a ethernet connection and i only have experience with hooking up my connection with usb from my laptop. what settings would i use to set up my cable modem connection on redhat aDSL? ethernet?

Depends on your modem model and type, linux distribution and kernel (uname -r)

It might be easier to go and buy an ethernet card for the desktop.
