Hi all,
I hope this is posted to the correct forum, if not I apologize and will repost. I am looking for a little direction or any advice. I want to remote admin my linksys router via a telnet/ssh session. I know I could enable remote administration on the router, but that is really not a viable solution, plus don't learn much that way.
Well, what I thinking about was programs like ddlclient or ipcheck do access the router albeit to only read a page. There should be a way to make a POST to the router. It must have some webserver running or it couldn't accept posts from the web interface nor serve up interface pages.
Yes, it should have at least a small web server. I am not familiar with the programs that you mention. Certainly if you new how to talk http/cgi, you could send commands to the router. This isn't just a simple "telnet", though.
I agree, not simple telnet. What I would like to do is to open a telnet session and launch a command line program that either through interaction or -switches would make the POST to the router. I can do this in C#, POSTing to another webserver from a windows app, but know nothing about perl or Linux scripting that would accomplish the same thing. That's what I need help with
Thanks for not arresting me, lawman. Sounds like this would be better posted in a perl newsgroup. Linux scripting can do a lot, but I don't know how to open a tcp/ip socket directly from the shell.
