Untangle works fine in conjunction with Linux-based Firewall
 

In my network am using a linux server to function as a Router 'Ip-Forwarding' and as a Firewall ' Through Building up my own Ip-tables ' AND I WANT to add on A Content Filtering Component to my current network ( Untangle )
so my question is, can i still let the Linux server function as a Router and a firewall and install Untangle on a separate server and let them both talk to each other ? And how?

It's perfectly fine to have a dedicated box for content filtering. It's also perfectly fine to have the content filter reside on the same box as the firewall. It's up to you which approach to use. Both are doable and there shouldn't be much difference between the way you set things up for each. What kind of content filtering is it? If it's Web content filtering then basically your firewall needs to forward all Web traffic to the content filter (regardless of whether it resides on the same box or not). This is usually called transparent proxying and there's tons of info about it a Google away.
