Question Unstable transfer rate between Ubuntu machines

Hey all

I am having some problems with the transfer rate between 2 Ubuntu machines.
The transfer rate is very unstable. By transfering large files the transfer rate will go up to 2-3MBps and drop down to 100-200KBps and up again constantly trough the transfer.

I am using a Realtech NIC integrated card 100Mbps in both ends.
There is also a router between them.

I also tried both of the computers to download Ubuntu at www.ubuntu.com, and the transfer rate is stable at 3MBps at both machines, witch is nice. I have also changed both cables, but with no luck. They also show that they both are running on 100Mbps mode.

Hope some of you know the trick, then I would be so greatful

What kind of files are you transferring? If you're sending just a few very large files, you should be able to saturate the connection. If you're sending millions of tiny files, it will drastically slow down the transfer.

It's true, but I transfer large files such as the Ubuntu ISO file.
Also when I stream video and music from the another Ubuntu machine, it pauses for seconds before it continues to play.
