Unknown hostname on router

I'm running RH9 and using a wireless bridge to connect to a wireless router. Everything is working great except that the router is unaware of the machines hostname. I am able to get an IP address using dhclient, but the router's dhcp client list shows the machine/ip/mac address with a host name of "Unknown".

The machine does have a hostname, which I can confirm with the hostname command.

This machine is my first linux box in a lan of windows boxes, so I can't compare against any correctly working machines. I'd like to be able to access the linux box over the lan by name, rather than by ip.

I'm assuming that this is not an issue with the bridge, but it something not quite setup correctly in linux. Can anyone give some things to look at as possible causes of this situation?

Thanks.

The hostname you are seeing in the router is probably the Netbios or WINS name for windows. Linux will not have one of these. I think (but an not sure) that it is possible to get one for Linux, but my guess is that your router was designed with windows in mind.
