you can do this
rpm -e --nodeps samba
or
find / -name samba* -exec rm {} \;
but this will screw up rmp database
it will find any file named samba or beginning with
How will it screw up the rpm database? Will it damage the system in any way? Will it affect any of the other services? What if I ever want to reinstall Samba, will that be a problem? Please let me know. Thanks a million!
It means that it doesn't want you to un-install samba because something else relies upon it.
Given that you're getting rid of samba you might aswell get rid of SWAT aswell (samba configuration tool via a web browser I believe).
My advice would be to remove samba-swat first, resolve the dependency, and then remove samba. You won't need/use samba-swat *anyway* - since you're removing samba, and it'll just take up space and cause conflicts if you *do* put samba back (with a later version) later.
help me in unistalling samba -i've tried out all the options given in this site.the problem is my samba is corrupted i suppose and it refusees to start-so i need to unistall samba and reinstall it again
