Unable to resolve domain names on CentOS 6.2 server

As the title states, most commands that use domain names don't work because of domain issues, for example yum and svn. I tried setting my DNS in ifcfg-eth0 in network-scripts to use Google's DNS, which worked, however it caused all of my ip address to cease to work except for the main one (I have a range of 28 ip addresses) which is very bad for me.

Of the 28 ip addresses, one is bound in ifcfg-eth0 while the other 27 are bound in ifcfg-eth0-range0.

So, can anyone help me switch my server's DNS to Google's without killing off my other 27 IP addresses?

You need to edit /etc/resolv.conf to point to the Google DNS. For example:

Code:
nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 8.8.4.4
Make sure then that you verify your server is checking DNS for hosts in the /etc/nsswitch.conf file. The line should look like this:

Code:
hosts: files dns
